Personal Statement

Hello UC Santa Cruz Staff,

It is my pleasure to serve as Chair of the Staff Advisory Board (SAB) this year!

I have been a member of the UC Santa Cruz community for just over sixteen years, as an
undergraduate student and as a member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Enrollment Management team.

I am very interested in identifying ways to support the growth and development of all staff as leaders making a positive impact on the university and the public constituencies that we serve. As a student at UCSC I was very involved in a variety of students organizations, I was a member of the residential life team at Oakes College, and took advantage of the advising and research opportunities available at our beautiful campus. As a professional staff member, I have had the opportunity to represent UCSC and the UC system throughout the state for the twelve years as a Regional Admissions Representative and currently as the Associate Director of Admissions. I also had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the 2009
UCSC 2009Leadership Academy and served for two years as UCSC's Jr. and Sr. Delegate with
the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA).

On a personal note, I am committed to helping students access higher education and I have
served as a mentor for the Puente Program at Contra Costa College for two years, before
moving back to Santa Cruz. I continue to volunteer with a number of community and faith based organizations and I am very active in my church here in Santa Cruz. Also, for those that may not know I absolutely love to sing!

I am committed to creating a climate that is supportive and meets the needs of our staff. I look forward to another year serving on SAB, proudly bringing a voice to our staff!
