Personal Statement

To my friends, those known and those yet to be made, I’m excited for the opportunity to serve on the Staff Advisory Board.

I’ve been on the UCSC campus since 1992, first as a student who graduated in literature with an emphasis on creative writing and many moons later winding up as a computer systems manager in the ITS division. My heart is what led me here and continues to keep me aligned with this wonderful campus. I’m an avid cyclist and advocate in many areas not the least of which being alternative transportation efforts and sustainable living in general. My son is my inspiration to serve others and give back what I can to our community.

I joined the Staff Advisory Board to broaden my perspective and hopefully serve campus in a more holistic fashion. I’ve spent years looking at campus through the eyes of IT leadership and am very eager for the exposure that will come from this new vantage point. Finally, I’m very vocal in my organization about the principles of community and integrity in the work place. I trust this endeavor will be an opportunity for me to step it up a notch in regards to these values.
