2009 Thumbs UP Awards!!

The Staff Advisory Board is pleased to again sponsor the UCSC Thumbs Up Awards. A "Thumbs Up" Award is a small form of recognition that can be given to an individual UCSC staff member, a team, or an academic in an administrative role (Dean, Dept. Chair) for special service she or he has rendered as a member of the campus community. Each nominee is a winner!

With budget cuts happening virtually everywhere at UCSC, the funding for this awards program was also reduced this year. We will not be sending the small token gift that was sent in the past, but we will be sending recipients a beautiful certificate of appreciation that they can proudly display at their workplace.

The nomination period closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8th.

Call for Nominations

5-openings

Our annual elections drive is now on for members to serve on the Staff Advisory Board (SAB)! You have until April 17th to turn in your self nomination form. There are 5 openings this year. Go to: http://sab.ucsc.edu/nom_form.htm

to create your nomination. Elections will be held from April 21st to May 1st, and new members will be announced at the Staff Appreciation Picnic on May 12th.

SAB gives staff an opportunity to meet with the Chancellor to share staff issues, participate in work groups and committees and to organize and support staff appreciation activities. Two Board members are sent to quarterly meetings of the system-wide Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) where issues are shared and discussed and proposals put forward to UCOP and the Regents.

Please sent your nomination info to sabnominations@ucsc.edu by April 17, 2009. Elections will be held April 21st to May 1st, and new members will be announced at the Staff Appreciation Picnic on May 12th. New members will be invited to the June 9th board meeting.

All non-represented career employees that have completed probation are eligible to serve on the Staff Advisory Board. The term of membership is 3 years with a monthly commitment of appox. 10 hours. If elected, the term begins July 1, 2009.
